A temperamental thin skinned grape and difficult to grow, when produced of any quality it demands high prices. The thin skin means it's very light in colour body and tannin, it characteristically has searing acidity and full lingering flavours of raspberry, strawberry, cherry, violets and sweet spice.

Dashwood

Dashwood sources grapes from both the Awatere and Wairau valleys: Wairau to the north produces fruit with more tropical fruit flavours; whilst the fruit from Awatere provides more freshness and minerality. The combination of fruit from both results in increased complexity in the finished wines.
