Guidance for Scottish businesses

A new tier system of local Covid restrictions came into force across Scotland on the 2nd of November. The five tier system incorporates a number of restrictions on hospitality venues depending on the level of each local area

Current Guidance

While no areas are currently within the top Level 4 tier, premises that enter this level are instructed to close; venues are still able to offer takeaway services. In Level 3 areas, alcohol cannot be served, however, venues are permitted to remain open to serve food with non-alcoholic drinks provided they close by 18:00. In Level 2, alcohol may be served but only with food, while the closing time is extended to 20:00; food and alcohol can be served outdoors until 22:30. In Level 1 areas, the sale of alcohol alone is permitted, but venues should continue close by 22:30. Once an area enters Level 0, there is no requirement to close earlier than required by your license.

Each level additionally features restrictions on the size of groups permitted, the need to practice table service and a requirement to minimise the transmission risk of COVID-19.
