Level 2 is the next step for those who have grasped the basics of wines, and are hungry to learn more.

What is it?

The Level 2 Award hones students’ tasting skills and divides the world of wine into easily digestible chunks based on the major grape varieties of the world. Sweet, sparkling and fortified wines are also covered.

Who's it for?

If you are very new to wine and don’t work with it on a regular basis, you will probably benefit from attending WSET Level 1 or our own Wine Confidence before you undertake the WSET Level 2. If you have already gained Level 2, you will be eligible for the WSET Level 3 Award.

The course is aimed at those who work in the trade, although consumers are always welcome.

Course structure

The course involves a mixture of teaching, tasting and self-study, supported by a series of online resources. All teaching and tasting is held over three non-consecutive days (for example every Tuesday for three weeks) with the exam on the final day. The exam is one hour long and comprises 50 multiple choice questions.

Your study time

It is very important that you allocate time for self-study over the weeks that you are attending the course (minimum 14 hours outside of classes). Once you have registered for a course, you can request your pack in advance to familiarise yourself with the text book before starting.
