Ermitage le Pavillon Rouge, Organic, M. Chapoutier

Ermitage le Pavillon Rouge, Organic, M. Chapoutier

The Pavilion is the name of a small house on the steep granite slopes of Les Bessards in the Hermitage. Chapoutier Le Pavillon made its debut as a new wine in 1989. Prior vintages were produced from much younger vines from a blend of different vineyards. Made from 100% Syrah from old vines that are approaching 100 years of age and annual production of close to 7,000 bottles per vintage. With an intense and deep red color with purplish highlights developing a slightly smoky nose, accompanied by aromas of blackberry, plum and liquorice. The palate is very complex, powerful, velvety and balanced, with a lingering finish and notes of tobacco and liquorice. The wine is made with organic and biodynamic practices
