STIR IT UP goes Wild

If you missed out on entering the STIR IT UP cocktail competition, there is now another way! Pernod Ricard UK, the company behind leading brands such as Absolut Vodka, Jameson Whiskey and Beefeater Gin is sponsoring an additional round of our cocktail competition, offering all UK bartenders the chance to compete.

Unlike the main competition entry, the Pernod Ricard Wildcard is open to everyone who works in the UK’s bars regardless of whether or not they are currently a Matthew Clark customer. Any UK bartender who wishes to enter the ‘Wildcard’ round now has until the 31st March to upload a photo or video of their ‘Summer 2018’ cocktail to Instagram or Twitter, tagging @MatthewClarkLtd using #StirItUpWild, to be in with a chance of winning a place at the STIR IT UP grand final in London on 10th April.

Cocktails are worth £500m to the on‐trade1, so we’re delighted to be working closely with Matthew Clark to promote the importance of including them on menus to help outlets drive crucial sales. We’re looking for entrants to be experimental with new flavours, garnishes and serves to really wow the judges and we can’t wait to see the creativity we know is out there.”

One lucky winner will enjoy an unforgettable experience visiting the Absolut Bar Academy – an educational cocktail‐focused trip to Stockholm, Sweden. The trip will first take you to Åhus, the home of Absolut vodka, before heading to Stockholm where you'll uncover the local cocktail scene. It's a world‐class educational experience delivered by some of the world’s finest professional bartenders in an unrivalled environment while rubbing shoulders with bartenders from around the world.

To be in with a chance of winning, all you need to do is create a ‘Summer 2018’ cocktail, which should be made in under ninety seconds using five ingredients or less. One of those ingredients must be a spirit from the Pernod Ricard UK portfolio, such as Absolut, Jameson, Beefeater, Havana Club, Monkey 47 or Malibu.

Entry opens on the 1st of March and closes on the 31st March, when four shortlisted semi‐finalists will be invited to the grand final in London on 10th April. A panel judges will then select the overall winner of the Wildcard round. Each finalist will have a maximum of six minutes to present their competition entry, talk the judges through the recipe and prepare and serve the cocktail.
