Reliving Boutique Beers 2018

Brochure 2018 Boutique Beers Matthew Clark

The 6th annual edition of our flagship beer and cider event returned to the capital last week. Boutique Beers 2018 took place under glorious sunshine last Tuesday – the perfect weather to enjoy a cold beer. We showcased over 300 craft beers and 100 ciders, along with a collection of wondrous whiskies from around the world.

Craft sales are up 21% in the UK, now accounting for 10% of all beer sold. The revolution has become an evolution – craft beer is here to stay and is now the cornerstone of a good beer range for thousands of outlets. With so much choice it’s difficult to know where to start, luckily our team and suppliers were on hand to help guide the decision-making process. If you attended we hope you got a lot out of your day, if you didn't, we would love to have you join us next time around.

We have worked hard to bring you the biggest and best in the world of speciality and craft beers across our latest range. Guests were able to explore even more UK based brewing excellence than at previous events, before heading to the other side of the world to find some real unique gems. With consumer diets changing, there is an ever-increasing need to offer your consumers choice, that’s why we showcased a range of gluten-free and low ABV beers from the likes of Bellfield, Damm, Brewdog, and Krombacher.

With the cider market back in growth up 2.4%, this year’s event had the best picks in premium cider. Cotswold Cider Co, SXOLLIE, and Kentish Pip are just a few of the brands we’re delighted to have introduced to thirsty cider fans this time around. Cider has been produced for hundreds of years, but this hasn’t slowed its desire to innovate and remain a popular fixture on any bar – it’s a category that keeps us on our toes. We believe that the close link between whisky and beer could be the key to incremental sales in your outlet. We were so eager to showcase this link by inviting along some good friends from the whisky world. We know that ale and stout drinkers can recognise the flavours and aromas found in whisky that echo those of the beers they enjoy – so it was no surprise to see this area booming, although the games of “Chicken Bingo” may have helped! Yes, me neither!

I’m excited each year to see our customers enjoy the carefully selected beers and ciders, and incredibly grateful to everyone who attended. Not just our wonderful customers, with whom out we would have no event, but the brewers and producers who do such a great job of telling the stories behind their product.

We would love to know what you thought of the day, gathering this information helps us make these events better for you, our customers. If you attended, you should have an email from us asking for you to complete our short attendee’s survey. If you didn’t attend, we would like to find what we could have done to get you along! Click here to take the survey. Don't worry about missing out; your account manager will be happy to discuss with you how to get the most out of our Boutique Beers and Cider House ranges. We can't wait to see you all at our next event!
