Making Mother’s Day (at home)

Celebration occasions this year are still not quite what we’re used to. But with Mother’s Day right around the corner, it’s a good time to think about how customers will be marking this traditionally food and drink heavy occasion in lockdown.

Venues all over the UK have adapted to providing meal delivery and ‘at home’ services for all sorts of occasions and Mother’s Day is no exception. Here are some of the ways our customers are bringing Mother’s Day to life.

A classic Sunday roast

There’s something poetic about ordering in a classic roast to thank your mum for years of Sunday lunches, and a bottle of something delicious makes it all the more special. The team at London venue, The Thomas Cubitt have put together a truly mouth-watering Sunday lunch package complete with a saddle of lamb joint or roasted root vegetable and pine nut Wellington and all the trimmings. They have partnered with an English Sparkling wine producer to include a bottle of fizz to give mum as a gift or enjoy with the meal (if she’s willing to share).

I.O.U Mother’s Day

With a clearer idea of when venues will be allowed to reopen, many consumers will be thinking ahead and postponing their Mother’s Day plans until a time when the whole family can be together and enjoy a meal in a pub or restaurant. The White Cross in Richmond are making the most of this forward-thinking and offering an I.O.U Mothers’ Day gift voucher which includes two Hendricks and Fever-Tree G&Ts when the voucher is redeemed. With many of us still unable to be with family during the present lockdown, perhaps the best gift is the promise of better times and lovely meals ahead.

Afternoon Tea

It’s a truth universally acknowledged that food is infinitely more appealing when it’s in miniature. A typically English invention, afternoon tea is the classic Mother’s Day treat for a reason and The Lane in Kent has perfected this genre of tiny, delicious foods. They’re offering a Mother’s Day Afternoon tea bundle complete with tarts, cakes, and macarons, alongside Franklin & Sons soft drinks. Classic and cute it’s hard to go past such traditional fare when it’s presented as beautifully as this.

Skip the brunch…

Given how tough a year this has been maybe mum is hoping for something a little bit stiffer than a cup of tea. The Nook Cocktail Club in Weymouth has that covered with their Mother’s Day at home cocktail kit including five assorted cocktails and a mini bottle of Rose Prosecco. The gorgeously presented the kits are designed to make drinking cocktails at home an experience and will no doubt make this one a Mother’s Day to remember (or to forget).
