So on the 5th August its International Beer Day, so what’s that then? Well it started in California back in 2007 to gather with friends and celebrate the beers of all nations together on a single day.
But what about now, for me International beer has come a long way from drinking the local Spanish Cerveza whilst led on a lounger in Benidorm or not really knowing what to do with a wedge of lime stuck in the top of a bottle (do I ram in it the bottle or try and drink through it?). International beer is about celebrating all beer styles from every corner of the globe whether it’s a unique local beer or a global craft beer taking the world by storm.
Get out there and explore, otherwise we could still belief the world is flat and no one wants a flat world, or a flat beer for that matter. Why not try a East Coast US pale ale with it tropical citrus hops, a rich Belgian Ale with sweet malts and a creamy head or A Japanese Red Rice Ale with hints of Sake. Whatever the beer, give it a try and raise a glass to the most consumed alcoholic beverage on the planet!
Give the gift of beer, step out your comfort zone and say Happy International Beer Day!
