Willi Opitz Weissburgunder, Burgenland

Willi Opitz Weissburgunder, Burgenland

Made from Pinot Blanc grapes grown in Burgenland, the variety does well here in the sandy soils and continental climate. A third of the grapes are fermented in Transylvanian oak barrels, the rest in small stainless steel tanks; their size makes it easy to control the temperature at about 18°C; no malolactic fermentation is carried out to maintain the wine's freshness; the wine is lees-aged for about three months. The palate shows richness yet finishes fresh and vibrant; shows notes of dried, ripe white fruits and oak spice.
