About Jojo’s Jetty
Sydney's closest wine centre: Jojo’s Jetty vineyard is situated on the beautiful fresh water Colo River in the Hawkesbury region north-west of Sydney which is developing into Sydney's closest wine centre. Established on a 24 hectare site owned by the Ferris family for over 35 years, the vineyard was planted in 2000 and produces reliable and healthy vintages.
The grapes are hand-picked; both the Shiraz and Sémillon display the unique characteristics of the region. ‘Our vineyard is boutique in scale and ambitions; given our size, we have sought relationships with only a few discerning restaurants in Sydney such as Kable’s Restaurant (Four Seasons Hotel), Longrain, Mirabelle’s and Sel et Poivre, all of whom carry our wines’, says owner Bill Ferris.
PJ Charteris is the Consultant Winemaker at Jojo’s Jetty; a New Zealander by birth, PJ has been working with vines and wines for over a third of a century. Initially he trained at Roseworthy but he continued his education working around the world with, amongst others, Tim Knappstein in the Clare Valley and Paul Jaboulet in the Rhône Valley. He spent 12 years at Brokenwood; during this time he earned an outstanding reputation as a winemaker and became a regular show judge at national and regional wine shows around Australia. In 2010, the Hunter Valley Wine Industry Association honoured PJ by awarding him their Winemaker of the Year.
