Ferreirinha Quinta de Leda, Douro

Ferreirinha Quinta de Leda, Douro

Grapes produced by Sustainable Agriculture Integrated Production guidelines as defined by the International Organisation for Biological and Integrated Control (OILB/IOBC) are selected for this top-quality Duoro red; the blend is 55% Touriga Franca, 30% Touriga Nacional, 10% Tinta Roriz, 5% Tinto Cão. Each parcel is treated separately according to its ‘needs’, though, pumping over and stainless steel fermentation are common themes. The wine is aged in Vila Nova de Gaia for around 18 months in 225-litre oak barrels, 50% new, 50% used. The wine was only lightly filtered prior to bottling. Almost inky-black, it shows intense aromas dominated by plum and blackberry, with notes of clove and nutmeg spice. The palate is full-bodied with a good acid/tannin balance and plenty of fruit; the finish is elegant with a slight minerality.
