About Cono Sur
Philosophy: Founded in 1993, Cono Sur is located in Chimbarongo, in the Colchagua Valley. Their philosophy is simple – no family trees, no dusty bottles, just quality wine. They use a combination of traditional winemaking techniques and the latest technology and experimentation to produce their wines.
Pinot Noir Passion: Adolfo Hurtado joined the winery in 1996, at the age of just 26. With him, he brought strong environmental beliefs and a passion for Pinot Noir. For the last decade, Cono Sur has been developing a variety of ways in which it can effectively reduce its carbon emissions and cultivate vines with the minimum of impact on the environment.
Cool coast: Adolfo Hurtado believes that the cool, coastal vineyards in Chile have the potential to produce truly world class Pinot Noir as well as aromatic whites.
IWSC award: Cono Sur won The Chilean Wine Producer trophy at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in 2011.
Cono Sur was the first Latin American winery to certify its quality and environmental management system under the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 regulations and in 2007, Cono Sur was the first winery in the world to obtain Carbon Neutral delivery status. In 2010 they became the first in America and only the third winery in the world to be certified ISO 14064-1 through the CEMARS certification, positioning itself as a leader in environmental care.
