About the wine maker
Cantina Enrico Serafino was founded in 1878 by businessman and landowner Enrico Serafino in Canale d’Alba, one of the main towns of the Roero region. Once established, the winery soon became one of the most important in Piedmont and among the first to sell the region’s classic wines throughout Italy and abroad.
Since 2002, the entire production process has been monitored and controlled using state-of-the art equipment for pressing, vinification and bottling. They have also invested in the vineyards, both by buying complementary plots that produce high quality grapes and developing closer working relationships with the contract growers to produce grapes with the best terroir specific character. Lorenzo Barbero oversees the winery’s production with Paolo Giacosa responsible for the day-to-day winemaking.
The estate specialises in the production of classic Piedmontese wines from grapes at home in the region, including Cortese, Arneis, Dolcetto and Barbera. Their Arneis from the Roero region is a particular speciality, the grapes for which are grown around the winery. Elegant Barolo and Barbaresco wines, made from Nebbiolo grown on the neighbouring Langhe hillsides, complete the portfolio.
