Wynns Coonawarra Estate announces exclusive distribution agreement

Wynns Coonawarra Black Label

Wynns Coonawarra Estate has announced an exclusive distribution agreement with Matthew Clark, the leading On Trade distributor in the United Kingdom , and its sister company Wine Studio. This agreement will ensure Wynns Coonawarra Estate gains a high profile through the strong distribution base already established by Matthew Clark.

Andrea Ruggeri, the Group Purchasing Director at Matthew Clark said, “We are delighted to welcome Wynns Coonawarra Estate into the Mathew Clark portfolio. Such a prestigious brand with real heritage and outstanding quality credentials can only add depth and diversity to our premium Australian offering.”

Foster’s owned Wynns Coonawarra Estate is the Coonawarra’s pre-eminent wine producer, with the largest holding of the region's best and oldest vineyards. The terra rossa soil and cool climate produce low yields of intensely flavoured grapes and the resulting wines have long been regarded as some of Australia's greatest, known for their richness and longevity. Wynns Coonawarra Estate was instrumental in putting Coonawarra’s distinctive cool-climate cabernet sauvignon on the map.

Simon Brook, Business Controller for the On Trade at Foster’s EMEA commented, “We are very pleased to announce this agreement with Matthew Clark. Regionality in Australia is becoming increasingly important in the trade and Wynns Coonawarra Estate is a key part of our Australian regional strategy.”

The Wynns Coonawarra Estate range comprising a Riesling, Chardonnay, Shiraz , Cabernet Shiraz Merlot, and the iconic Cabernet Sauvignon, known as ‘Black Label’ will be available from Matthew Clark.

The flagship wines, produced only in exceptional vintages, include John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon and Michael Shiraz will be available through Wine Studio.

Coonawarra, from a local aboriginal word meaning ‘honeysuckle’, is situated in south-east South Australia . It is famous for a tiny cigar shaped ribbon of red terra rossa soil, about 27km long and 1.8km wide. This long skinny strip in Coonawarra boasts the most sought–after vineyard soil in Australia, known as terra rossa – red earth.
