Matthew Clark will be the sole distribution route to the UK on-trade market for Ruffino, Fontana Candida & Bigi, from the 1st January 2007 . The addition of these new agencies is part of a comprehensive review Matthew Clark has carried out on their Italian range. The review is intended to ensure Matthew Clark’s Italian range continues to outperform the market, (the Italian wine market in the on-trade is growing by 5%* while Matthew Clarks Italian range has grown in the same period by 13%).
Robin Knapp, Wine Director, Matthew Clark said “This new range strengthens our already strong Italian portfolio and we envisage continued growth in Italian wine sales driven by these strong brands. The Italian market already knows and trusts these brands for their quality and consistency and we have already experienced considerable interest from a number of our independent and national customers. We foresee the new wines being a great success.”
In total over 30 new wines will be added to Matthew Clark’s list. The wines will compliment the current portfolio; extending the range of indigenous grape varieties and regions, and increasing the number of rosés and Pinot Grigio’s in line with current market trends.
The new suppliers are all looking forward to working with Matthew Clark.
