Sun, sea, sand and a sangria with a twist

When you think of Spain you normally envisage sunshine, sunny beaches, tapas and sangria. Whether you want to relive your last Spanish getaway or want to brighten up your day by pretending to be lying on a sun lounger with a pitcher of Sangria, try these twists on the traditional red wine sangria. These drinks will have you thirsting for more!

Top tip - the longer you leave it the better so try to make it an hour or two before you would like to enjoy it.

The white wine sangria

  • 1/2 cup (1 to 2 oranges) freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/2 cup (3 to 4 lemons) freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup Triple Sec 1/2 cup sugar (add more if desired)
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, etc...)
  • 1 bottle (10 oz.) soda water
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 lemon sliced

In a large pitcher, combine orange juice, lemon juice, triple sec and sugar; stir until well combined. Add the bottle of wine and soda water; stir well. Garnish with orange slices and lemon slices and enjoy!

The Cider Sangria

  • 1 bottle of Pinot Grigio white wine
  • 3 cups apple cider
  • 1 cup carbonated water
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 apples
  • 1 cup vodka
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ cup pomegranates seeds
  • 1 orange chopped

Chop apple and oranges and place in the bottom of a pitcher with pomegranates. Add in cinnamon sticks, carbonated water, wine, cinnamon and honey- stir. Add in vodka, mix and taste- adjust as desired. Serve with ice!
